Kenny Ortiz is the Director of Lead Venture, overseeing all operations of the program as well as serving as the primary instructor. In addition to Lead Venture, he also oversees the Bethany International Ministry Internship program. Kenny is a dynamic communicator, gifted Bible teacher, and published author. He has a strong track record of mentoring young adults and nearly 15 years of leadership experience in local church ministry, para-church ministry, and business. Kenny has been a youth pastor, conference speaker, school administrator, successful entrepreneur, and has led more the 40 short-term mission trips. He is also the host of a popular podcast, “Theology for the Rest of Us.” Kenny’s undergraduate work was focused in the arenas of Organizational Leadership, Psychology, and Biblical Studies. He is currently pursuing an M.Div. degree with an emphasis in Christian Education from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary as well as taking supplemental graduate courses at Harvard University. Kenny is an avid reader, theology nerd, history buff, sports fanatic, Disney enthusiast, and coffee addict.
Jozua is the Director of Media for Bethany International. He mentors and instructs all Lead Venture participants in the media track, training those media track participants in film production, digital video editing, and graphic design. Jozua has extensive experience in film production, media, broadcasting, marketing, and leadership in para-church ministries. His media projects have included internationally acclaimed short films, documentaries, music videos, and a variety of promotional pieces. He has worked on projects for Hillsong, CBN, GodTV, and Jentezen Franklin. His silent short film “Unjust Ruler” won the Best Picture Award at KSM Mini Oscars short film festival. Jozua also helped produce the documentary “Victory in Christ” which won best documentary film at the “168 Film Festival” in Los Angeles. Jozua is passionate about training media missionaries and film producers that will use media projects to help take the Gospel to the ends of the Earth. Jozua is married with three children. Eric is the Prayer & Worship Coordinator for Bethany International and the Director of the “Furnace Prayer Room” located on the campus of Bethany Global University. Eric mentors and trains all Lead Venture participants in the Prayer & Worship track. Eric earned a Christian Ministry Diploma in House of Prayer Leadership from the International House of Prayer University in Kansas City, MO and then later served as an intercessory missionary and worship leader at the International House of Prayer for more than four years. He also served two years as the Youth Department Worship Director at Hillsong Phoenix. Eric has a passion and a calling to raise up this generation to seek the face of Jesus in prayer and worship. He loves reading, camping, hockey, and enjoying time with his wife and three beautiful children.
David is the Executive Vice President & Provost of Bethany Global University. He serves as one of the classroom instructors for Lead Venture and gives executive oversight to the Lead Venture staff team. David has earned a B.S. in Education from Oral Roberts University and M.A. in Intercultural Leadership from Bethany Global University. He has 30 years of experience leading, teaching, coaching young people, and has ministered cross-culturally in 25 countries while serving in leadership on short-term mission trips.
La’Tia is the Program Coordinator for Lead Venture. She serves as our primary administrator, spends time mentoring the women in the program, and serves as one of our instructors. La’Tia also holds the honor of being the only member of our leadership team that is a graduate of Lead Venture. La’Tia has earned a B.A. in Communication from Thomas Edison State University and a Diploma of Pastry Arts from The Culinary Institute of Virginia College. In 2015, she was awarded the prestigious “Arnold Fletcher Academic Award for Exceptional Self-Directed Learning.” She is currently in the Bethany International Ministry Internship program and is also currently pursuing an M.A. in Intercultural Ministry Education from Bethany Global University. La’Tia loves baking, cake decorating, reading, writing, and watching movies (especially Disney).
Kenneth is the Dean of Work Education for Bethany Global University. He manages a variety of essential initiatives related to academic accreditation, campus life, student industries, curriculum development, and practical training development. Kenneth was the founder of the Lead Venture program, and he still serves as one of the instructors for the program as well as serving in a strategic advisory role. Kenneth has earned a B.S. in Biblical Studies from Liberty University and M.Div. from Regent University. Kenneth has many years of experience with leadership development and has trained 500+ men and women in leadership and apologetics. Kenneth is married with one daughter.
Leslie Balla is the Assistant Media Director for Bethany International, and helps to manage the Lead Venture Media Track. She started assisting in the management of the media department in 2011 and has continued to grow in her skills and responsibilities. Leslie has a strong track record in missions experience as well as in digital media production. Her resume includes extensive film making and script writing (both in the USA and in Bangladesh), as well as using film and media to effectively document the ministry of Bethany missionaries and interns all around the world. Leslie also has a strong passion to mentor and disciple Lead Venture participants. Leslie has a B.A. from Bethany Global University. She loves photography, playing drums, and enjoying unique coffee shops around Minneapolis. Leslie is married to Andrew. Together they love to take on all sorts of adventures.
Derek is one of the Deans for Bethany Global University and serves as one of the instructors for Lead Venture. Derek has extensive experience teaching inductive Bible study methods, leading worship, mentoring young adults, and leading missions teams. He has earned a B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies from Biola University and is a graduate of YWAM University of the Nations, completing both the Discipleship Training School and the School of Biblical Studies. Currently Derek is pursuing a graduate degree in New Testament Studies from Johnson University.
Amy is the Activities Coordinator for Bethany Global University and also serves as one of the instructors for Lead Venture. In addition, she also helps to manage a variety of elements of the campus life for BGU, she manages “The Oasis” coffee shop on BGU campus, and she oversees babysitting for Bethany International staff and married students. Amy has earned a B.A. in Ministry with a concentration in Intercultural Studies and a minor in Psychology. Amy is married with two kids.
